Campgrounds with Reservable Sites:
Silver Creek Campground, located at the base of Ebbets Pass (Hwy 4) has been accomodating participants for several years. This year, we have increased the number of sites available for reservation by 33%. Silver Creek is located approximately 12 miles from the town of Markleeville, Silver Creek has 18 resevable sites. Hope Valley Campground, located off Blue Lakes and Hwy 88, is a newly renovated campground with 16 reservable sites and several first come, first serve. This campground is approximately 13 miles from the start of the race, There are single and double sites, the majority of sites will accomodate trailers, motorhomes as well as tent campers (tent pads in all sites). Kit Carson Campground, is located on Hwy 88, approximately 9 miles from the start of the race. This is the first year we are going to be accepting reservations at this campground. Kit Carson is small, only 8 reservable sites and some first come, first serve. These sites are will accomodate smaller RVs and are great for tent campers. These campgrounds do not accept reservations.... great spots for the Ride if you get here early!
Crystal Springs Campground, is located on Hwy 88 approximately 3 miles from the start of the race. Crystal Springs does not have reservable sites but if you get there by Thursday, chances are very good for getting in. Crystal Springs has new fire rings and large campsites. There are numerous sites that will accomodates RVs and motorhomes, plus several that are recommended for campers and tents. Markleeville Campground, is located 1 mile south of the town of Markleeville on Hwy 89 - this is a small campground (9 sites) but a great location for the Death Ride! If you're thinking about this campground, plan on coming early... it is normally filled by the Wednesday before the ride. This campground has bear boxes and is on the Markleeville Creek.
